The last New Moon of the year
This thirteenth and last New moon for 2008 will occur today, December 27, around 6° in Capricorn, at 1:23pm, GMT. The Trine from Vesta should make it possible to preserve balance, thus avoiding the sometimes spectacular climatic reactions occurring when the Sun and the Moon meet about once a month. At the same time however, Mars will enter in Capricorn, creating a conjunction with Pluto, Lilith following up close and Venus superimposing itself to Neptune in Aquarius.
The effect of this lunation will last a little more than four weeks, until January 26, 2009. At first sight, the chart does not present major cosmic conflicts. On the contrary, the configurations even seem rather favourable. However, if one grants its true value to the conjunction, which is a superimposition of planetary energies of variable intensity according to the planets and signs concerned, the general climate or atmosphere promises to be somewhat tensed…
Indeed, we will be subjected to the influence of seven elements gathering in Capricorn: the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Pluto, Lilith, and a little farther, Mercury and Jupiter. This alignment will cause imbalance in spite of the trine from Vesta which will tend to restore order in a moderate way. It is a kind of “explosive” and “destroying” energy, but it is also a force that will favour action and regeneration.
The Sun/Moon conjunction is at the origin of the monthly New-Moon event often responsible for spectacular short-circuits, more remarkable on the climatic level via sudden changes in the weather pattern when the poles (+ and -) represented by these two astral bodies, come into contact. Try to do it with two electric wires and you will see what happens… Comparing the relative weakness of household current with that derived from the Sun’s positive energy and you will understand that cosmic reactions are sometimes phenomenal, whatever the season and time of year…
Add to that Sun/Moon effect the energy combination of Mars, the god of war, and Pluto, the guardian of hell, the god of death and you will notice how mythological symbolism is surprisingly close to the incidence of the planets on life, whether it is human or otherwise. This combination may appear in the form of aggressive behaviour, conflicts, social uprisings, terrorist actions or any other kind of expression of latent barbarism in mankind…
The natives of Capricorn will be directly concerned of course. An immense need to impose themselves, to take more risks, to exceed their limits or to make their point forcefully will be seen in the behaviour of certain subjects during the few weeks to come. What will happen, however, may have much longer term repercussions… The first decan will be especially concerned by the above-mentioned planetary congregation. The second decan will only feel its effect a little and the third decan will be more especially subjected to the influence of the Mercury/Jupiter conjunction trine Saturn, which will increase their intellectual and communication abilities, as well as the many benefits derived from these qualities.
The natives of Cancer, Aries and Libra will not be very favored by this planetary cluster in Capricorn. They will have “to cling firmly to their ground” in order not to be carried away by this most powerful energy swirl.
Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio and Pisces, on the other hand, should benefit from this cosmic energy which will help and support them in their efforts, while increasing their ability for work as much as their determination to reach worthwhile goals.
The Venus/Neptune conjunction will have a positive effect on love, spirituality and creativity (artistic or other). Aquarians will be directly concerned with this munificent energy that will make them more open, more compassionate, better listeners and more human all around… These two planets will also have a good influence on Gemini and Libra, making them more creative and more open-minded to all kinds of good things. An opportunity, a stroke of luck or a wave of inspiration could cause major and durable satisfaction.
Impregnate yourself with cosmic energies from which no earthly being can escape. To become aware of their presence makes it possible to draw more benefit from them as much as it can help avoid their troublesome incidence when necessary. That’s what I call “being one with the universe around”…
