HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Thursday, 01 January 2009
As it is customary each year, people around the world meet in relative solidarity to communicate their best wishes to their entourage using postcards (virtual or otherwise), emails, the phone or physical embraces, champagne, confetti, serpentines and other accessories to celebrate the New Year. Joy is everywhere! The joy of saying good-bye to a year that, for many, as not particularly been successful, and the joy of hoping for a new chance that destiny brings what we hope for, even if we find it sometimes difficult to pin-point what we are aiming at exactly…
I therefore join in to send everyone reading this page my sincere wishes for 2009. May this New Year bring you success, happiness and good health. As I often write on this occasion, “may all your dreams (even the craziest) come true”. Because one has to be crazy to continue on dreaming in a world that leaves less and less room to improbability, but that is not yet able to forecast social crises or weather changes, not mentioning the ups and downs of the stock markets… Against all odds, keep on dreaming and remember that the greatest human achievements have all begun as dreams…
Here is the birth chart of 2009. It was established at midnight GMT, taking account of the geographical co-ordinates of Greenwich, in England, the city where meridian zero passes, the reference for all calculations and positioning in terrestrial longitude around the Earth. In Brisbane, Australia, for example, the New Year is celebrated nine hours earlier than in Paris, whereas New York waits six hours after Paris has uncorked the Champagne to draw its fireworks… However, whatever the region or country, the position of the Ascendant doesn’t vary that much. The chart for Brisbane presents an Ascendant at 19° in Libra, whereas for New York it is at 9°. In the chart reproduced here, one sees the Ascendant at 7° Libra, but the same chart for Paris presents an Ascendant at 28° Virgo (because of the one-hour summer-time applied all year round since 1945, even in winter). The position of the Moon is also subject to variations. Between Paris and Greenwich, it is only half a degree (because there is only one hour time difference). With Brisbane, where New Year falls ten hours before Greenwich, the variation is 5° (24°40′ Aquarius instead of 29°40). In the chart for New York the Moon is found at 2°18′ in Pisces… The other celestial bodies do not see their positions change much at all, whatever the difference with Greenwich Mean Time. That’s enough for the technical aspect of the situation. Now, let’s analyse the chart…
The Mars/Pluto conjunction will deeply mark 2009. It announces a reinforcement of certain leaders’ radicalism, extremism, tendency to use force to impose ideologies or martial laws. The military aspect of this configuration may spark destructive and bloody conflicts. The risks related to the use of nuclear weapons will be frequently mentioned and feared. The proximity of the Sun in Capricorn shows the part played by certain dictatorial or autocratic governments to put forward their superiority on the international scene. The army and the police will have more and more power and rights. Banks and other institutions based on the almighty power of money will also be in the collimator of Mars and Pluto. Other monumental failures and spectacular bankruptcies are predictable. The countries and areas represented by Capricorn will be particularly concerned, but the beneficial bonds linking Mars, Pluto and the Sun with the Moon and Venus in Aquarius as well as with Vesta in Taurus, seem positive enough to restore order and to even be beneficial in a constructive way to the countries represented by these signs. Australia, England, India, Afghanistan, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Mexico and Tibet, amongst others, are concerned.
On the contrary, countries represented by Cancer, and more moderately those marked by Aries and Libra, will be less at ease. The United States were born on July 4, 1776, at the end of the transit of Pluto in Capricorn, a few months before the eighth and last conjunction with Mars in this sign. South Africa will also be subjected to the strong pressure produced by this configuration. It will be the same for China, Cancer country, for Scotland, Holland and Madagascar, where major events will make the headlines. Somewhat also discomforted will be Germany, Japan and Poland, Aries countries, and England (Ascendant in Aries). Under the sign of Libra, we find Austria, China (Ascendant in Libra) and France…
Meanwhile, the Saturn/Uranus opposition will continue to create havoc in certain countries by blocking the reform process necessary for the changes imposed by difficult situations to take place. This will be especially true in countries represented by Virgo and Pisces, where these planets are, without forgetting, at a lesser degree, Gemini and Sagittarius. The United States and Canada have their Ascendant in Gemini. Belgium is Gemini; Argentina, Brazil, Greece and Switzerland are Virgo, as well as Japan (Ascendant in Virgo). Denmark, Congo, Egypt and Portugal are Pisces. Spain, Hungary and Morocco are Sagittarius.
The Saturn/Uranus opposition will also continue to disturb the climate of our planet, with unexpected and often spectacular changes. They will be more noticeable in the countries stated above, but the list is far from being complete!
With four planets and the North Node in Aquarius, the natives of Gemini and Libra will be favoured. The entry of Jupiter in Aquarius, in a few days, will produce a progressive rise of positive energy for these people in key areas of their life. The natives of Aquarius will also benefit from it if they manage to control and channel the powerful energy which these planetary positions release. If not, all kinds of excesses will result which, although apparently favourable, will become sources for various problems. The natives of Leo need to prepare for a rather disturbing and disconcerting year due to the opposition with Aquarius, in which Neptune conjuncts Venus and Chiron to accentuate confusion in major areas, both privately and socially.
In spite of the Saturn/Uranus opposition, the natives of Virgo will benefit from the “reconstructive” energy bestowed by the Mars/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, trine Vesta in Taurus. People born under either one of these three signs will live major events all the more profitable if they are able to seize opportunities and to make the necessary efforts to reach their goals. Disorder will also be noticed by the natives of Taurus and Scorpio, whose health or love-life could become a subject of concern this year…
