LILITH AND HER MYSTERIES Understanding and Interpreting the Black Moon in Astrology A webinar presented by Roland Legrand Founder of ABLAS — A Better Life Astrology School Lilith fascinates, intrigues and sometimes unsettles us. Associated with the most secret parts of our nature, our unspoken desires, refusals, deep wounds and instinctive forces, she occupies a unique place in astrological interpretation. However, before attempting to understand her meaning, we face an essential question: which Lilith should we use? Depending on the software, ephemerides and calculation methods used, several different positions may appear in the same chart. Lilith may be described as Mean, True or Corrected. Another position connected with the lunar apogee may also be provided. These different positions do not necessarily coincide and may sometimes fall in different signs or houses. Which one should we choose? How can these differences be explained? And, most importantly, how can we interpret Lilith without relying on generalisations, confusion or excessively dark predictions? During this two-and-a-half-hour webinar, Roland Legrand will present the different methods used to calculate the Black Moon. He will also explain why he primarily uses the Mean Black Moon in his consultations and in the astrological training provided by ABLAS. Program of the webinar What is the Black Moon? The astronomical reality behind this astrological point The Moon’s elliptical orbit around the Earth The concept of the lunar apogee, corresponding to the part of the orbit where the Moon is farthest from the Earth Why the Black Moon is neither a planet nor a physical celestial body Why several different positions can be calculated The different Black Moons We will study and compare: the Mean Black Moon, primarily used by Roland Legrand in his consultations and teaching; the True Black Moon; the Corrected Black Moon; the additional position associated with the lunar apogee. We will examine how these positions are calculated, why they may differ and to what extent the discrepancies between them may—or may not—alter the interpretation of a chart. Two different Liliths that should not be confused There is also an asteroid called Lilith, which travels through the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. This asteroid belongs to a vast population of celestial bodies of widely varying sizes and compositions. Despite its name, it has no astronomical connection with the Black Moon. The webinar will therefore clearly distinguish between: Black Moon Lilith, an astronomical point calculated from the Moon’s orbit; the asteroid Lilith, a physical celestial body orbiting the Sun. Lilith in the natal chart We will explore the possible meanings of the Black Moon according to: the sign she occupies; her position in a house; her aspects to the planets and other significant factors in the chart; her proximity to an angle, particularly the Ascendant or Midheaven; recurring themes and configurations that reinforce her influence. Lilith may reveal an area of fascination, rejection, dissatisfaction or uncompromising expectations. She may also indicate what we refuse to endure, what we seek to protect at all costs, or a part of ourselves that is difficult to acknowledge and express. Her interpretation should never be based on fear or fatalism. Like every astrological factor, the Black Moon only reveals her full meaning when considered within the context of the entire chart. Transits of the Black Moon We will study how her transits may: reactivate a natal position; bring a long-hidden frustration, wound or truth to the surface; provoke a reassessment in the area represented by the house she is transiting; accompany a need for liberation, separation or transformation; temporarily highlight a relationship or situation that has become unsatisfactory. Particular attention will be given to conjunctions and aspects formed with natal planets, as well as passages of Lilith across the angles of the chart. Lilith in Solar Returns and other predictive techniques How much importance should we give Lilith in a Solar Return? Is her position alone enough to indicate a difficult year? How can we determine whether her influence will truly be significant? We will see why her presence should be confirmed by several converging factors, including: her house position in the Solar Return; her aspects to the planets and angles; the connections between the Solar Return and the natal chart; the transits active during the year; the repetition of the same message through several predictive techniques.
